The 2nd Chiang Mai Balloon City Festival is returning to brighten the skies of northern Thailand once again. 

This year, the event will take place at Pang Dee Dee of Doi Saket District in Chiang Mai, a beautiful countryside area known for its peaceful atmosphere and mountain views. The festival will be held from November 20–23, 2025, during the winter season when the weather in Chiang Mai is perfect for outdoor activities. 

Visitors can enjoy the event from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, making it a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon and evening with family and friends. With its fun, friendly vibe and beautiful scenery, the festival invites people of all ages to enjoy hot air balloons, food, music, and community culture.

This year’s theme is “Balloon Caravan”, which highlights a country-style atmosphere mixed with colorful balloon activities. Tourists can experience a romantic hot air balloon ride rising more than 20 meters above the ground, offering peaceful and scenic views of the surrounding landscapes.

The festival will also feature a collection of adorable hot air balloons in different sizes, including balloons shaped like cute characters and creative designs. One of the special attractions is the Balloon Tunnel, where visitors can take countless photos under a glowing pathway of lighted balloons. The event also includes the Local Liquor Festival: “Friends in a Toast!”, where people can taste local drinks and learn about community-made beverages. 

Throughout the festival, there will be food stalls selling northern Thai dishes, handmade products, and booths from local vendors and partners. These activities make the festival not only fun but also supportive of local communities and small businesses. 

What Special?

The festival also carries a meaningful purpose. A portion of the proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to the “Forest Conservation and PM 2.5 Reduction Fund” managed by the Chiang Mai Tourism Federation. This fund supports environmental protection and helps reduce air pollution in Chiang Mai, especially during the dry season when haze is common. 

By joining the festival, visitors can enjoy a wonderful experience while also contributing to environmental conservation.
