Thonburi Market Place, located on Borommaratchachonnani road, is one of the popular markets in Bangkok among locals and tourists. This open- air market is clean, organized and has plenty of food.

Thonburi Market Place is not like a regular market – it is a fresh market in Bangkok designed as a food complex. Covering approximately 48,000 square meter, this building is orderly and divided carefully into sections for fresh seafood, meats, vegetables, flowers, cooked food, and even home goods.

Why Foreign Tourists Should Visit Thonburi Market Place

The highlight of this market is the seafood section, which offers a wide variety for both Thais and tourists who love seafood—such as prawns, crabs, oysters, scallops, fresh fish, and squid. Many vendors will grill, steam, or stir-fry your seafood at no extra cost when you make a purchase.

Other highlights include a wide variety of Thai street food for lunch, such as glass noodles with shrimp, crab fried rice, pad Thai, and various soups. For dessert, don't miss the mango sticky rice, durians, fresh fruit juices, and traditional Thai treats like bua loi. Everything is cheap and delicious—a real treat for your taste buds.

How to Make Payment at the Market

There are banks and ATMs in the area if you need more cash. Some shops may also accept debit or credit cards, as well as other types of digital payment, to make your spending more convenient. However, foreign tourists can now use TAGTHAi Easy Pay, a payment system to simply scan and pay like Thais via PromptPay QR code at any shops or stalls. This feature of TAGTHAi is secure, convenient and makes it easy for foreign tourists who are not familiar with Thai Baht and do not want to keep too much cash.
